About Screenless Allies

Screenless Allies was created with a simple goal: to make assistive technology more practical, understandable, and accessible for people who are blind or visually impaired.

As a blind assistive technology user, I have experienced firsthand both the challenges and the possibilities that technology can bring. Screenless Allies was built to bridge the gap between learning about technology and actually using it effectively in real-world situations.

What Screenless Allies Offers

Screenless Allies provides resources and support for educators, students, and individuals working with assistive technology, including:

  • Articles covering the basics of assistive technology and practical usage
  • Non-biased, non-sponsored technology reviews
  • The Teachavision Podcast, featuring conversations with Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments (TSVIs), blind professionals, and others in the field
  • Assistive technology consulting for schools, districts, and Education Service Centers

A Real-World Perspective

Technology is most powerful when it is used confidently and independently. Screenless Allies focuses on how assistive technology fits into everyday life—whether in the classroom, at work, or at home.

Rather than focusing only on features, the goal is to help users and educators understand how technology is actually used in real situations.

Working With Educators and Students

Screenless Allies works directly with educators, TSVIs, and districts to support students in developing practical technology skills. This includes helping students build confidence, improve efficiency, and better integrate assistive technology into their daily learning.

Looking Ahead

As assistive technology continues to evolve, Screenless Allies remains committed to staying current, sharing knowledge, and supporting the communities that rely on these tools every day.
