Introduction
Welcome to this VERY short installment, covering the braille displays’ calculator! This will help you get acquainted with the app, along with telling you where to locate different commands. This calculator is considered a scientific one, which means you will be able to go up to square roots and exponents. Without any further introductory material, let’s get started!
Using the Calculator
You can find this app in the main menu. Alternatively, on Brailliant models, you can press “Backspace+Enter+C” to move directly to it from anywhere. From here, if you are using a Mantis, it is very straight forward. Use the standard method of inputting into a computer (the number row) to use the calculator. If you are using a braille keyboard, you must use computer braille. That is, drop the numbers by one, just like you would in Nemeth. If you are not familiar with computer braille, we recommend you read this list. However, if you have your language set to Unified English Braille, then use those symbols to enter calculations. If you do not know these symbols, this list should help.
Finding Commands
If you need to find a symbol such as a Square Root, all you do is open the context menu by pressing the “M Chord (Control+m)” from the calculator. Navigate using the ways talked about at the beginning of this series until you find the symbol you want, and press “Enter.”
Copying Results.
Let’s say you are too lazy to open the editor and write the answer to a math problem. You can copy the result you got after calculation by pressing “Backspace+Y (Control+C)” then paste it into the editor by pressing “Backspace+V (Control+V)”. This can definitely come in handy if the results are a long string of numbers.
